I went to see Doug in the hospital a couple weeks before his passing. His sister in law Laurie Fitzsimmons told me about him being there. He was pretty drugged up and I didn't think he would remember me being there. I told him I would hoist a cold one in his honor as he couldn't make it. Then said good bye. He reached out as best he could and I squeezed his hand and said goodbye. He later told Laurie I had been there and what I had said. It had been many years since I saw him but am thankful for that last visit as Doug was a good guy.

Back in 72 Doug drove a hot Mustang Cobra Jet Mach 1. Dave Alexander had a nice 70 Mustang too but his was disguised as a daily driver on the outside but a monster on the inside with a 390 police intercepttor motor. Don't know how we stayed alive in those days. Well it came to pass one day when Doug and Dave went head to head. I will never forget that race and the look on Doug's face when Zando went screaming by him. Those were the good ol days...

Rest in peace my friend - you will be missed..but remembered.

Doug was one of the good guys!  He and Greg Jacobsen replaced a window that got broke at my house before my mother got home!  Don Nicks and Mark Remington had words and one picked up the other and chucked him out the window.  My mom was out of town and I was having a wild party!  Do not know hoe come I did not get busted!  :)  Doug was right there, helping me, no questions asked!  He also had fake ID, so we had  no problem getting any liquor - He had a kind heart and a great smile!  Rest In Peace, Doug....
